For every seed must die before it grows.

Today is unique. Today marks the one year anniversary of the car crash that changed my life in a way.

The day started out great. In the morning I went to visit my grandmother who was recovering from brain surgery at Talbert Medical Center in Fountain Valley before I departed with chuck to go watch our good friends in Azusa rock the shit out of Warped Tour.

Who would have known that after saying bye to my grandma at the hospital in the morning, I would end up at my own hospital by the end the night.

In a nutshell, a drunk driver slammed into my gf(at the time) car on the 22 freeway at night on our way home. We narrowly avoided traffic and spun into the center divider now facing oncoming traffic.

The scariest part was hearing her screams and watching her sit helpless unable to move while we waited for help to arrive. For a good 10 minutes I figured that if the crash didn't kill us, we most certainly were gonna get hit by some other drunk driving idiot that would clip us, (you always see that on tv, where someone is off to the side of traffic fixing a flat tire or just waiting for a tow truck and some fool hits them). Don't Drink & Drive, Be Responsible.

The reason why I labeled this post "For every seed must die before it grows" is because even though we survived, I feel a part of us died that day. The part that feels super invincible, our innocence i suppose. The car accident felt like a rude awakening and is safe to say was the precursor of many things to come. While i grew closer to her, she grew further apart, both realizing our lives and putting them into perspective.

Looking back now, I realize that I am a greater person now than I was then. I mean spiritually, emotionally, and mentally. The wisdom I gained from those experiences strengthens my outlook and helps me keep focus on my life's goals. My priorities are in check and my potential ends only when I stop trying. People say things happen for a reason, and that somethings are destined to occur. I believe that to a certain extent, because if we were destined for somethings then what good is it to have aspirations for anything? Wouldn't you want to have control over your own life and write your own script? I believe that when things happen, there are a many roads you can choose to take, and its that one road you choose that sets the tone for you life from then on.

i reallyyyyyyy liked your last paragraph on this post. it's very, very true.

we all have so much potential, and sometimes it takes a total "360" event to realize it.

we make our own destiny.
but everything happens for a reason, because we made those decisions that took us there.

hmmmm... so many roads.
